I have the lovely KE Shade over today. Chatting about an Irish story of hers :)
Aedan ó Loinsigh's only love beyond the sea is his Kaitlin.
Captured, he uses his knowledge of the seas to get back to his love.
Liberators of gold from the British on the high seas, Aedan ó
Loinsigh and his brother have never shied away from a challenge on
the open waters. Aedan’s only tie to solid ground is the lovely
Kaitlin who possesses him like no other. When the brothers are
captured and awaiting execution, a mysterious man offers to free them
if they pay off their debt aboard his ship. The brothers waste no
time in agreeing to the proposal only to find their new lives are not
much better than those of slaves. Desperate to reach Kaitlin again,
Aedan must figure out a way to save not only the other indentured
servants aboard the ship but get back to his true love. Salvation
could come at a price. One that Aedan will have to live with for the
rest of his life.
1. Please tell us a little about
yourself. I'm a momma three rescue kitties, two who are sisters.
I got them through Furry Friends Network. The third bundle of fur I
live-trapped when she was only three months old. I had been feeding
her but the weather was getting nasty and couldn't wait until I fully
gained her trust to give her a warm home. The two sisters have
accepted her as one of their own. I'm a big hockey fan and watched
all 82 games, plus playoffs, of my Pittsburgh Penguins. That it's the
winter olympics time just gives me goosebumps. Go USA!
2. How did you come up with the idea
for your book? Well, I thought about my heritage and the mixed
background I come from. I decided on Ireland and the fierceness of
the bond between family, specifically the two brothers. I wanted them
to have different personalities to conflict with each other but when
it came down to it, they worked like a well-oiled machine. After that
base blossomed, the love interests came next.
3. When did the characters first pop
into your head? I'd written pirate stories before but set in a
fantasy world. Being a history lover, I was researching Ireland and
things started clicking into place.
4. Without giving away any spoilers,
was the story always straight forward for you to write, or did it pop
up any surprises along the way? Surprises, actually. I
didn't plan what happened to one character but as the story
progressed, I didn't see any other way than how it went down. It was
a bittersweet part to write.
5. Where do you like to write?
In the house I moved into over a year ago, I set up one of the rooms
specifically for writing. It's got a beautiful view of mature trees
and enough squirrels to keep my cats happy.
6. Do you read a lot? Not as
much as I'd like. The technology of today distracts me. I have a
Kindle in my purse, which is really handy when I'm stuck waiting for
an appointment or traffic. I once finished half a novel because of an
accident on the highway.
7. Who are some of your favourite
authors? David Morrell, Kim Harrison, Brent Weeks, Connie Mason,
and Dean Koontz.
8. And last
but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out
there? Never let the rejections or lack of response get to you.
It's a bit of a shark tank out their in the publishing world. You're
going to take a fair amount of bites before you reel in Jaws. Find
yourself a critique group or private site. It's the best way, using
your peers, to get an honest look—for the most part—of your
writing. Just go in there with a thick skin because the writing world
isn't an easy or profitable road. Do it because you love it and
always follow your passion.
Author Bio
K. E. Shade is multi-published author Kastil Eavenshade in disguise
pandering her romantic shenanigans. When not catering to the whims of
three rescued kitties, she's dreaming up her next heart-beating tale.
No period in history—past, present, or future—is safe from the
clutches of her muse. Her passions beyond writing are drawing,
cooking, and watching Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. She credits her
parents for her free spirit as they've always supported her in every
aspect of her life. Without them, she wouldn't be here.

Excerpt
Aedan chanced
getting closer to her and she closed the rest of the distance. The
clear waters spared him no mercy at the sight of her swimming without
one scrap of clothing. "Oh, lass. You tempt me."
"Always."
She draped her arms around his neck. "Promise me ye will come
back to me."
"I will."
"Promise."
"With all my
heart, Kaitlin, I promise I will be in ye arms again."
She smiled and
kissed him boldly, her tongue breaking the barrier. Aedan kicked his
legs to breach shallow water, his trousers growing tighter. The sand
curled around his toes and he pressed her closer. Her hands wormed
their way up his chest and she pushed him away.
"I have to go."
She toyed with her bottom lip. Aedan smirked and reached for her, but
she batted his hands away.
"Nay." He
crooked a finger at her.
"But the men
are waiting for me." As she backed away, inch by inch of her
bare skin emerged from the lapping water. "I've volunteered to
lead them back home."
Aedan waded toward
her, but she stayed a hairsbreadth from his reach. His heart pounded
in his chest as she halted with the water kissing her waist.
"The men can
wait." Aedan brushed his fingers along her damp tresses.
"Can they?"
She kissed his neck slow. Her fingers traced the outline of the scar
a bullet had left behind over a year ago. "Must everyone wait
but Aedan Ó
Loinsigh?"
Salty air and the
gentle touch of his love almost made her words drown in the warm feel
of her kisses on his skin. Too many days at sea burned his lust, and
his body yearned to join with Kaitlin. He raised her chin, eager for
taste of her lips. She pressed her hand over his mouth.
"I will wait
for ye. I will, always and forever. I love ye." Her hand moved
away.
It is lovely to meet you, KE. And the excerpt is lovely
