Great Author: Raven McAllan

Hi guys. Another great author post today since I haven't done one in a while.

Today my great author is Raven McAllan.

Here are the books of Ravens that I've read so far:

Theres plenty more there for me to read too!

Raven is a great author. I love her books, and if I hadn't have found Doris O'Connor, I wouldn't have found Raven either! I have to say, she is a lovely person, and has given me smiles, advice, and freebies (who doesn't love the freebies :p).

I love the way her stories drag me in that I never want to put them down! Of Ravens books I've read so far, the Silk Street books are my favourites. I can't wait for the third to be written! Raven is brilliant at writing her contemporary romances, adn her characters are always well written and well described. And I love them all, from Lord Felton is Silver Silk Ties, to Dylan in Impulse.

I wanted to share my love of Ravens books with you all, and tell you to go grab one if you haven't already, and get started ASAP!

What a blurb huh?! I received a copy of this from Angelica in return for an honest review.

I read this in one day, today in fact, and I couldn't wait to get the review written and move onto Blue Moon House as soon as I can!

I love love loved this book, massively! The first scene was fantastic between Joce, her roomate and her roomates fiance. The book starts out hot, and moves higher and higher, until the end which is so scorching hot, you could quite possibly burn your fingers on your e-reader!

At first (before reading) I didn't think it was going to be a book I would love, but how wrong was I! I loved Jocelyns character, feisty girl, strong, knows what she wants and knows exactly how to get it! I rather liked Sophias character too, and look forward to reading more about all of the others there. I am going straight to Blue Moon House now (not literally, on my kindle ;p)

You've got a lovely house, beautiful women, hot men, plenty of delicious sex, and vampires.... what more could you ask for! Give it a go, you will not be disappointed!

***REVIEW*** The Billionaires Unwanted Virgin by Doris O'Connor

The Billionaires Unwanted Virgin by Doris O'Connor

Lie back and think of England. She could do this. It was only sex, after all. Auctioning off her virginity was the easy part—going through with it not so easy. When Alice realizes who has acquired her, keeping her emotions out of the deal seems an impossible task.
Self-made billionaire Lakota, Lance Kemnay has no time for women, let alone one who would sell her virginity to the highest bidder. Ever practical, however, he sees in Alice a solution to his immediate need for a wife. The emotions she stirs in him are just lust, and lust can be dealt with. As they connect emotionally and physically, his resolve to keep his heart aloof is tested beyond limits.
Can he trust his tender feelings, or has he been taken for a fool by the one woman he thought he could trust?

I received this book from Doris in return for an honest review. Here goes (THERE MAY BE SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT ALREADY):

I read this book over a week, not because it was bad or anything, but because I had such a headache that I just couldn't read much at any one time. Otherwise, this book would have been devoured in one sitting! I loved it, and as always, Doris does not disappoint!

This is the story of  young lady, Alice, who auctions off her virginity. Now at first I thought, why the hell would you do this, and as I found out that it was to raise money for her very sick niece, I understood. I mean how could you not understand when someone throws a sick child into the equation right! Anyhoo, Alice finds the man who has, erm, bought her, and things get serious very quickly.

I loved Lakota. Well, at first I wasn't sure at all, I thought he was going to be a bit of a macho pig, but after a little while, I liked him, then a little while later, I loved him! Michelle Doyle on Goodreads posted her review (See it here) and it was only once I read what she'd written (or seen the pictures she'd posted), that I agreed with her 'look' of Lakota. Jason Momoa! With his long wavy hair, and burn-into-your-soul eyes, he fits perfectly! The description of the characters was great, and I love the way they all sounded, but especially Alice and Lakota.

Alice was a sweet girl, but not always. She knew what she wanted and she was going to get it. When she and Lakota spent their first night together, even though she didn't really know what she was doing, she knew what she wanted.

As always, Ms O'Connor writes her sex scenes with much hotness! And trust me, there is plenty of hot steamy sweaty sex in this book. But the storyline behind it was really enjoyable. I hope she will write another, and carry the story on a bit further, especially with what happens in the last chapter.

Well done again Doris, another fantastic story!

Excerpt:

The key in the lock sent her pulse racing, and she stepped into the hallway, wanting to be the first thing he saw. The door opened. His finely pressed military uniform accentuated the thick muscles of his chest and arms. His dark hair and swarthy complexion gave him the appearance of an Arabic sheik, and she wanted to be his harem girl.

A loud thump reverberated throughout the room as he dropped the bags he carried. Ignoring his widening eyes, she jumped into his arms, pressing her warm flesh to him. Ron's muscles rippled under her hands. He kicked the door closed behind them, and her lips covered his, her tongue desperate to discover the heat of his mouth.

Today I had a bit of a scare...

So today I had a bit of a scare.

I've had type 1 diabetes for 8 years now, and at first I looked after myself really well. In fact, it's only been the last few years its been bad. But... each time I've been to the diabetic clinic for my check ups, even though my HBA1c has been a bit high, everything else has been fine. And I think I've been a bit cocky about it all.

I had my latest annual check up last month, and when my eyes were checked, they said there was something very small there, but it looked like nothing. Then today, I received a letter stating that the changes in my eyes show the start of Diabetic Retinopathy, but needs no treatment at this time. It scared the shit out of me. For the first time, I've actually been scared about it. I've sat this afternoon, and cried for about 2 hours, having a really good long chat with my other half about it. About the dangers of losing my sight if I continue the way I am, the chance of losing feet, hands, legs or even arms. I think it's seriously took something happening to make me realise properly that if I don't control this, it will get the better of me. I've swam along in life thinking nothing will happen, but this has made me realise that it can, and if I don't change things, it will.

When talking to OH, I got mad a little. He was asking me loads of questions like did I want o be able to see my kids grow up, do I want to lose my feet,to which I was answering yes or no, quietly. But the more questions, the more upset I got, and when he asked me if I had even accepted my diabetes, I shouted NO! And it was only then I realised that I haven't accepted it properly. I don't know why, but it obviously seems like I haven't.

So today is a kick up the arse, well and truly. I can't let it control me, I can't let it get me down any longer. My diet crashed and burned back at Christmas, after losing 19lbs, so that has to come back again!

Just a rant I know, but I needed to finish this off, let it out, and start afresh tomorrow.

G'night folks :)

20 This or That questions with..... Tara Chevrestt!!!!

Well hello people!!!

Thursday again, so you know what that means!! And today Tara Chevrestt is here with me, and I'm digging lol!

So come on in Tara, sit down and grab a drink!

Food
Sweet or savoury? I like sweet. I mean, I wouldn't like a sweet steak--actually I like cinnamon chipotle so I guess I do--but I love sweet wine. Cinnamon chipotle? Never tasted it!

Salad or sandwich? Depends. Am I eating out? Salad. Less messy.

Macdonalds or Burger King? Neither. I don't eat that stuff, not since I saw that article about the pink stuff they put in their chicken. *shudders* Oh! i don't think I want to know!!

White meat or red meat? White mostly. In an effort to be healthier this year, I no longer use ground beef. I use pork or turkey instead, but I do eat an occasional filet mignon. Ooh I love a good Filet Mignon! And Pork Mince is fab for meatballs :)

Entertainment
Bon Jovi or Guns n Roses? Neither. I like rap. I'll take Too Short or Ice Cube any day. Ice Cuby babay!

Movie or book? Depends. If I'm interested in a book but it's 500 pages, I'll go for the movie instead. It's rare that a book can hold me for 500 pages. Too much detail.  But I love books and always have one in hand (or my kindle).

Movies or TV shows? Hm. Both...but I don't like NEW movies. They are crap and they are just copying off old ones. It seems Hollywood is running out of ideas. I like Turner Classic Movies and I like TV shows that take us back in time: Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and Bomb Girls. I also like Law & Order, but my favorite is stuff in or portraying the past. I love old movies too, To Kill a Mocking bird, Goodbye Mr Chips, Boys Town... I could be here all day!

Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings? Neither. Not remotely interested.

Damon or Stefan Salvatore? I have no idea who those people are.

True Blood or Vampire Diaries? Never read either one.

Friends or Sex and the City? I like Sex and the City! I have both movies. They made me laugh so hard. I remember one of the girls crapping her pants in the first movie and Samantha and the condoms in movie two. LOL Sex and the City is soooo funny!

Star Wars or Star Trek? Ick. Neither. Ick... you can't ick Star Wars!!!

Random
Dominance or submission? I don't play those games. No man will ever dominate me in any way. I prefer to be on an equal basis with my partner. Love & respect, not BDSM. Good answer :)

Kisses or hugs? Who's offering? I'm pretty standoffish and don't care to be touched. I'll take a hug from a family member, but no kisses. Husband only. I have this "arm's length" rule. You must stand an arm length away. LOL So if I see you I shouldn't run up tp hug you I take it ;P

Bath or shower? I like both. I like a bubble bath when I need to de-stress, but mostly I shower.

Call or text? Text. I can't hear on the telephone.

Date night: stay in or go out? Stay in. I'll make a nice meal and we'll watch a TV show together that we both like--such as Top Gear.

Singing or dancing? Dancing. I can't carry a tune due to my deafness, but I can feel bass.

Vanilla or kink? I plead the fifth...but no BDSM games. :)

Cotton or satin? Cotton. Skin can breathe.

Anything you'd like to add, or anything new you'd like to tell us about while you're here?

Yes, I have a new release coming up June 1st that I'm terribly excited about. It's a contemporary romance on the set of a reality TV show for AUTHORS. The show is called The Next Bestseller and 7 authors vie for a contract with a Big 6 publisher, 100,000 dollars, and title of the next bestseller. It's being released by Escape Publishing, a digital imprint of Harlequin Enterprises - Australia. You can mark it to read on Goodreads. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17760130-plotting-to-win

I'd love to know...what challenges do you think they will have to face in this competition?
Oh wow, that sounds really interesting! It is definately going on my to read list! Hmm, I wonder what things will happen? Some very jealous and greedy people? Murders maybe? Ooh... I'm getting excited!!

Thanks for having me!
You are very welcome! Come back any time!

Wish me luck!

Okay, so I've bought too many books recently that I just haven't read. So..... im on a book buying ban for 2 months, to catch up on the unread books on my shelves and my kindle!

Do you think I can do it? I'm not so sure! I have a major addiction to buying books, so lets see how well I do.

I've made a ticker to count down the days,  just to help me along a little bit! Its up on the right side of the blog. And below!

Wish me luck people!!
