Movie Monday!!!

Welcome back to Movie Monday folks!

I haven't watched any movies this week, so I will catch up on a movie I watched last week. That movie was 'Flowers in The Attic'.

I watched this right after reading the book, and oh I have to say I didn't enjoy it at all. I don't know if that was because I had literally just finished the book the day before, or if the movie just isn't that good.

I found a lot of things from the book had been left out or changed, things I felt would have made the movie better. For example, in the movie, the butler knew about the children, in the book he didn't. I preferred it in the book, where Mommy and the Grandmother were the only ones who knew. And who was that guy with all the dogs?! They left out the scene where Cathy and Chris escaped and ran to the lake for a midnight swim, in the movie they get out of the window onto the roof, but Chris almost falls into the mouths of those dogs, so he climbs back up and they go back inside.

To be honest, I'd rather not have watched it, but things can't be unwatched can they lol.

Hi Guys

Todays' Movie is '2 Guns' featuring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg.

Me and the other half watched this last week, we had £5 free credit on BlinkBox which was about to run out so we grabbed 2 Guns to watch.

I was rather impressed actually. I mean it wasn't amazing, but it was quite good. There was a lot of comedy in it, and to be honest it was good 'giggle' comedy.

First off, I wasn't particularly looking forward to Mark Wahlbrg being in this, as the last 2 movies I watched him in (Ted, and The Other Guys), weren't exactly his best. I just thought he wasn't a very good actor anymore. But... 2 Guns proved me wrong as his acting was quite good, and he played his character well.

So, the storyline was well done. Denzel being an undercover CIA Agent, and Wahlberg being an undercover Naval Intelligence Officer.Well, either of these guys in a uniform is enough for me ;) But the fun part was that neither knew the the other was undercover.

A lot of shooting at bad guys (and occasionally each other lol), a little romance, some laugh out loud comedy, and some awesome action!!!!!

MOVIE MONDAY!!

Hi guys.

I've decided on a Monday I will be doing a movie review, therefore let Movie Monday commence!!!

Today's movie is 'The Help'.

I remember reading this book and falling completely in love with it, it's now one of my favourite books ever. It took me a long time to get round to the movie, as I tend to think movies spoil books, but this one didn't actually disappoint me much at all. The book touched me a lot, and the movie did too, not as much as the book, but still a lot.

Lets start with the story. The Help is a story of, well, the help. It is set in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement. It's about the help, black women working as maids and nannies for the white folk. (I hope I don't offend anyone by calling the help 'black people', that is how they are referred to in the book and movie). One lady, Miss Skeeter, decides she wants to write about 'The Help', from their points of view. This starts a lot of lovely conversations with Miss Skeeter and Abilieen, the main character. 

The actresses done rather well I must say. Emma Stone was cast as Miss Skeeter, and she played a lovely role. Viola Davis played an amazing Abileen Clark and Octavia Spencer a wonderful Minnie Jackson.

These 3 women made the movie. Minnie brought a lot of laughs, Aibileen a lot of sorrow, and Skeeter a lot of kindness. But the main thing in this movie was friendship. Minnie and Aibileen's friendship seemed like the stuff most people wish for. They hugged, they laughed together, and they cried together. 

Other characters I liked were Miss Celia and miss Hilly's mother. Miss Hilly and her little 'crew' on the other hand were nasty ladies.  

Aibileen's relationship with Mae Mobley is wonderful. Aibleen tells her every morning, 'You is kind, you is smart, you is important'. A beautiful friendship between the 2 is potrayed well.

There are a lot of funny things in the movie. Minnie's 'terrible awful' and the toilet prank on Miss Hilly are just to name a few.

There are sad times too. One thing that I remember hitting me hard was the whole toilet situation. The maids weren't allowed to use the same toilets as the 'white folk'. Knowing that this is what the world was like back then well it makes me grateful that things have changed now.

I loved this story, a lot of heartbreak, laughs, sadness, and friendship. I would recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen it, but in my opinion, please read the book first, it just gives you a little bit more.

***MOVIE REVIEW*** Hysteria

MOVIE REVIEW

So I know I haven't been around for a while, so today I thought I'd do a movie review. Today's review will be on the movie 'Hysteria'.

I watched this today on my trusty Netflix account. I'd seen the trailer quite a while ago and thought it looked rather amusing.

Hysteria is based on true events back in the 19th century. Women were quite commonly diagnosed with hysteria, and the way to cure it? Basically a doctor found a way of using his fingers to bring each lady to orgasm! This then lead to another doctor making the first ever 'vibrator', and this was then used in doctor surgeries too, and then finally was produced to help 'hysterial' women at home.

The movie wasn't amazing I must say, I gave it 3/5, although I'm changing my mind to 2 stars. The best thing in the whole film was Hugh Dancy, just his beautiful face though :) very easy on the eyes that guy is.

Rupert Everret brought a small amount of comedy to the movie, but other than that, he didn't bring much else.

Would I recommend? If you want to know the story behind the worlds best selling sex toy then go ahead and watch it, otherwise, I woulnd't bother with it.

TV/Movies:
This week I've been watching some movies on Netflix with me being rather ill. I've watched Death at A Funeral which was quite funny, James Marsden made that movie!! I watched Fools Rush in which was alright too.

TV shows, well I started watching season 1 of Glee yesterday. I've never seen it before so thought it was about time lol! Me and the OH have been watching QI on Netflix which is awesome! We also watched the season finale of breaking bad which was OMG fantastic!!! :D But to be honest, thats about it. I've been in bed early lately with being ill so not much been going on here.

Oh, X Factor UK is another show I watch, but I catch up on it the next day (so watch saturdays on sunday morning, and watch sundays on monday morning). Sam Bailey to WIN!!!!!!!!

As for TV/Movies, me and the OH have finished Sons of Anarchy for now (can't wait for more!!), so we've watched the new episode of Breaking Bad that has been streamed on Netflix, and then carried on with The Killing as we kind of sacked that off for SOA! Movies, I watched People Like Us the other day with Elizabeth Banks and Chris Pine. It was quite good. I also finished watching Sweet Home Alabama which i quite enjoyed :D

So we're half way into the school holidays, and I'm kind of glad already!

Not much going on on the blog this week, i've been reading a great book though for a great author friend of mine, but unfortunately I can't post a review yet as it hasn't been sent off to the publishers yet. But I can assure you, it's amazing!

Movies/TV, me and the other half are still watching Sons of Anarchy at night times, and still loving it! My sister has stayed over this week, and we watched the new Les Miserable together (she's seen it 6 times already, ti was a first for me). It was good, but not as good as I was expecting. I think the singing the whole way through was a little OTT at times. It did make me cry though :/

Hi there!

I've been around a little more this week, mostly I have been catching up on some blog stuff, sorting out the posts for the Blogoversary etc. It's been another glorious week weather wise here in Newcastle, we only had one day aof rain, and that only lasted a couple hours really. Heavy thundery showers planned for today though :/

TV/movie wise, we've not watched much really, just been ploughing our way through Sons of Anarchy season 3 on Netflix :D I honestly think I love Charlie Hunnam more and more each time  I watch it!! I attempted the first episode of Downton Abbey, but I'm not sure if it's for me :/ Any of you guys watched it?

So thats about it this week! Week 1 of the school holidays is almost over! Only another 5 to go for my DD and another 6 to go for my DS!

I'm feeling loads better now so have been around a bit more this week! Both kids broke up for the holidays this week, so I'm trying to think of thigns to keepthem occupied lol!

Hi guys.

I haven't been around this week much at all as I have a raging chest and throat infectfion, and have lost my voice :( so I've pretty much been watching tv and doing sod all all week.

I read and posted my review of The Orgasm Project by Doris O'Connor, you can find the review here.

I'm still reading Serviced, but I'm halfway through the stories now and enjoying it. Dan Browns Inferno has been chosen as out book for July in my Babycentre book group so I hopefully will get to that soon.

As for TV/movies, I've watched wuite a bit this week with being poorly. I watched '21 Jump Street' (with Chinning Tatum looking as fit as ever),  I watched Disneys 'Up' for the first time (its so sad), I watched half of '#People Like Us', which was alright. Me and the other half have finished Sons of Anarchy season 1 and are now busy watching season 2, and I hav ebeen catching up on my (should I really admit this?)... Teen Mom 2 that I've had recorded on the Sky+ box since like forever!

+Aimee Duffy was in my hotseat answering 20 qs this week.

Well this week I haven't read much at all (again!), but I did read and review His Guardian Withc by Angelina Rain. Check out my review here:

I've started reading Serviced Anthology, and have recieved a copy of The Orgasm Project from Ms O'Connor which I am hoping to get to real soon ;)

TV/Movies this week has been more of Sons of Anarchy with the OH. I watched a couple of movies, Life as We Know It (with the ever gorgeous Josh Duhamel! *swoon*), and Friends with Kids, which was alright.

I posted a few blog posts this week, My A-Z reading challenge, Help on doing a blog button, and +Faberge Nostromo  was in the hotseat this week for 20 Qs!

I also went to Glasgow on Wednesday for the Bon Jovi concert, I'll be posting about that soon when I get some of the pictures back form Darren!

I haven't read much this week I'm afraid, been rather busy with school meetings etc. But here's what I did read:

I reviewed Breaking Bethany by Anna Keraleigh. You can find my review here.

I read the much awaited anthology Her Type of Guy by +Doris O'connor +Raven McAllan +Michaela Rhua Ella Grey and Morgan King. You can find my review here.

As for TV/Movies this week, me and the OH have caught up on The Killing season3 now, and are waiting for the new episode this week (Netflix are streaming it the day after its been aired). So we started watching Sons of Anarchy, and although we've only watched 2 episodes so far, it's rather good. And Charlie Hunnam is quite hot in it too! He looks pretty darn good in that biker Jacket.

I finished watching season 2 of Call The Midwife, and I'm eagerly awaiting the Christmas Special later this year. And I eventually watched The Hunger Games yesterday! I gave it 3 stars, but the book was is much better.

Also this week I had Laurel Cremant guesting, Michaela Rhua showing off her new release, and Thianna D was answering my 20 This or That Questions.

As for TV/Movies, well no movies this week (although my other half watched Skyfall and said it was great), but we finished watching season 2 of The Killing on Netflix, and started season 3 last night. Really enjoying that show!
