***REVIEW*** After Realm by Renee Travis

Hellebella is not your average teenager. She is a demon princess from the underworld. She does, however, have teenager tendencies. She is outspoken, blunt, funny and rebellious. When a final act of rebellion sends her father into a rage, he sends her off to the North American School of Paranormal Princes-sing where he hopes she can learn to become a proper young lady and do something constructive with her life.

Not the only princess being sent away to the NASPP, Hellebella meets a lively bunch of girls from different paranormal kingdoms, including fairies, a vampire and shape-shifters. But not everything is light and happy at school. The girls find themselves entranced by a secret and mysterious club in another realm. There, they are forced to dance every night, and if they do not the consequences are dire.

Helle, as her new friends call her, must find a way to break them free of the spell holding them hostage, figure out WHO is behind the malicious magic and struggle with her own love for her best friend’s brother. Hopefully she can save them in time, before they become ghosts powerless to stop the magic from harming someone else.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. Happy to oblige as always :)

This is a really good YA book. Not the kind of thing I've read before but I honestly really enjoyed it.
Its the story of 8 young girls, all different mythical creatures such as vampire, demon, werewolf, goblin etc. They are all sent to a boarding school by their parents, and what they encounter is nothing you would expect! Hellebella finds a key and accidentally finds its secret, a door behind a mirror to a new place,a  secret place, beautiful with trees flowers, and best of all.... music. The dance club pulls the girls to it, all the while something strange is going on in the real world.

I loved Helle, she seemed like a great character. I pictured her quite well from the description in the book. The fiery red skin, the horns, the black nails, everything. And I loved how caring she was. She felt strongly about Lilith, and looked after her just like a best friend would.

The other girls were great characters too.

But it was Rourke I liked just as much as Helle and Lilith :) At first I thought he was going to be a bit meh, but I actually really got on with him!

The dance club is another great thing in the story. Full of magic, mystery and music!

Nothing more from me about the story, don't want to give away too much.

You must read this book if you like YA. I'd thoroughly recommend!  :)

  1. Might have to nab this for my girls. They'd enjoy this I reckon.
