***REVIEW*** Love Virtually by Daniel Glattauer

"Write to me, Emmi. Writing is like kissing, but without lips. Writing is kissing with the mind."

It begins by chance: Leo receives emails in error from an unknown woman called Emmi. Being polite he replies, and Emmi writes back. A few brief exchanges are all it takes to spark a mutual interest in each other, and soon Emmi and Leo are sharing their innermost secrets and longings. The erotic tension simmers, and it seems only a matter of time before they will meet in person. But they keep putting off the moment - the prospect both excites and unsettles them. And after all, Emmi is happily married.

Will their feelings for each other survive the test of a real-life encounter? And if so, what then?

Love Virtually is a funny, fast-paced and utterly absorbing novel, with plenty of twists and turns, about a love affair conducted entirely by email.

I picked up this book ages ago when it was on offer in a book shop. The idea of a relationship through emails intrigued me, something different to anything I'd read before

I gave this 4 stars on Goodreads, although it's really a 3.5.

I read this rather quickly, over 2 days. Its an easy read, the whole book is just emails between Emmi and Leo. Emmi sends an email to a magazine company to cancel her subscription. She doesn't realise she gets the address wrong and the email falls into the hands of Mr Leo Leike. He replies, and then she replies back. Thus starts an exchange of emails between the 2, and a friendship blooms into romance.

It was interesting, well interesting enough for me to grab book 2 on kindle (Every Seventh Wave), and I actually want to move straight onto it as Love Virtually left on a little cliff hanger!

As I said, 3.5/4 stars from me.

  1. I like the concept of an affair by email but I'm not sure I'll read it.
