Excerpt

So, what are we doing today? Can we go riding?” I ask excitedly.

No, someone’s coming over in an hour,” he says, wiping his mouth.

O…kay,” I say slowly, waiting for him to tell me who is coming over. He doesn’t say anything, just smiles. “So, who is it?” I ask after he still doesn’t say anything.

You’ll see.” He shrugs.

So, you’re not going to tell me who it is?”

Nope,” he says, putting his cup and plate into the sink without rinsing it. He starts to walk away, so I clear my throat to get his attention. When he looks at me, I nod my head in the direction of the sink and he raises his eyebrows. So, I nod my head in the direction of the sink again. “Do you have a tic, baby?” he asks, his mouth twitching.

I narrowed my eyes. “I'm not your maid, Asher.” He straight out smiles, giving me the dimple, then walks to the sink, takes his plate and cup out, still without rinsing them, and places them in the dishwasher. “You have to rinse it before you put it in the dishwasher,” I tell him, feeling and sounding like a total nag.

It’s a dishwasher,” he says slowly, walking towards me.

Ye—” Before I can get the words out, his mouth is on mine. The kiss is deep, wet, and so yummy, that when he pulls his mouth away, my hands are wrapped around his neck and my legs are around his hips. I'm in an Asher fog so deep that he could tell me that it’s not a dishwasher, but a microwave, and I would agree with him completely.

My eyes flutter open. He’s looking down at me with a cocky smile and mumbles, “That’s better.” Then, he squeezes my ass in his hands, sets me on the counter and leaves the kitchen, putting on his shirt as he goes.

Holy crap,” I whisper. Beast looks at me, grunts, then walks to his dog bed and lays down, completely disappointed in my lack of willpower. “It’s not my fault,” I mumble to my dog. He lets out a breath and shuts his eyes, completely dismissing me. “It’s not,” I say, still mumbling. I hop off the counter, take Asher’s dishes from the dishwasher, rinse off the cream cheese so it doesn’t harden onto the plate, rinse out the cup then place them both back in the dishwasher. The whole time, I'm smiling.

INTERVIEW!!!
1. Please tell us a little about yourself
First off thanks for having me on your blog and for being part of the tour, I appreciate it.
I'm 37, married, no kids, 2 cats. Aside from writing I have a regular (often dull) day job. I have a book series called "The Newfoundland Vampire" that I'm very proud of (book 2 just came out). Aside from those things I'm an animal lover, vegetarian, agnostic and an environmentalist. I have a bunch of hobbies including reading, writing, walking, watching TV, movies, piano, going to concerts, role-playing, board games, Pilates, martial arts and acting. I enjoy meeting new people and I love going to geeky conventions.
2. How did you come up with the idea for your book?
It had been in my mind for a while (book 1). I have always loved the idea of a vampire and I just had the idea one day of combining my love of vampires with that of where I live (Newfoundland) seemed like a perfect fit. I suppose like lots of people I've always fantasized about being a vampire and since they're not real (surprise! ;) this was the closest I could come. So now you also know the main character, Joseph, is about 90% me. For book 2 the ideas just keep coming, I started writing it immediately after I submitted book 1. It’s a direct continutation of the story. In terms of what would happen I spent a few hours coming out with an outline and then got to writing. I’m lucky that as I have traveled a lot I decided it would be fun to have my main characters go to place I’ve been (and a few I hope to visit someday).
3. When did the characters first pop into your head?
Well as I said I cheated a bit, the main character is me, or at least a younger-vampire version of myself. I thought it would be fun to explore the ideas of immortality, power and temptation in relation to myself. Also it's very interesting for me to imagine how this fictional version of myself makes different choices than I did (obviously) and how he/me would deal with some difficult moral situations. Cassandra, the female lead, came a little later. I wanted to have a woman turn a man into a vampire for a change and then decided to work in real people who had mysterious/unusual deaths. So Cassandra is loosely based on Catherine Mandeville Snow, a real person who was the last woman hanged here in Newfoundland in 1834. I also knew right away I wanted a version of Count Dracula, you'll have to read to see exactly what I did to him.
4. Without giving away any spoilers, was the story always straight forward for you to write, or did it pop up any surprises along the way?
I found once I got going the story flowed pretty quickly. With that said I did go through a lot of re-writes (16 drafts total for book 1). So the final version ended up a lot different than I thought. For book 2 (which was only 8 drafts) there was still some surprises. It turned out I didn't give Cassandra enough to do/a strong enough voice (and I had too much sex). Her becoming a more well-developed and realistic character was a great surprise and something I'm very thankful to my editor, Pat, for making happen.
5. Where do you like to write?
I generally like to write in the kitchen on my laptop, I can look outside to take breaks and it's quiet there in the morning. I also have a little nook/desk area just often the kitchen where I write as well. Generally I do almost all of my writing at home but I have done some in Florida and on some smaller trips as well. I find it hard to write with a lot of distractions/noise around, so I tend to pick quiet places.
6. Do you read a lot?
I can't say I read as much as I used to. Recently I started reading comic books again and I found that’s replaced reading novels to some extent. I find that when I read a book I don't like it slows me down a lot, as such I'm going to have to be more picky about what I pick out to read. So the short answer is no, probably only 10-15 minutes most days but I go through phases where it can be more.
7. Who are some of your favourite authors?
Peter David, Stephen King, Ernest Hemingway, Robert Kirkman, Robert Jordan, J.R.R. Tolkien, George Orwell, Richard Matheson, Anne Rice and Jamie Wasserman.
8. And last but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out there?
Sure I'll got some tips. Don't underestimate the importance of an outline/planning for a novel. Get lots of honest input from outside sources. Get an editor! I can't tell you how many terrible self-published books are out there that could have been good but without an editor they just fall to pieces. Don't expect to get rich overnight, the market is very hard to break into, be happy with small successes and keep writing. Despite what you may have heard people DO judge a book by it's cover, spend the time (and most likely money) to get a quality cover done you're happy with, people will notice. Work hard at promotion but know when it's time to scale back and focus again on writing, people want to see sequels/other works, it makes you established and gives readers a sense of security. If you love to write, keep at it. It takes time so be patient. Be prepared for rejections and harsh criticisms, you'll get them the same as any author. You have to not take things personal when it comes to writing, that’s not always an easy thing to do.
Thanks again for the interview, excellent questions that I had fun answering :)
Many thanks
You're welcome! Have a great day!

INTERVIEW

Hi Mathew!
Please tell us a little about yourself.
Not my favourite subject, but let’s give it a go. I herald from West Sussex in the south of England. I was recently asked to describe myself in a few words I replied, ‚Balding, bit fat and nearly 50. I have three children all in high school and have been married for 18 years.
As yet I don’t earn enough from writing to give up the day job, so I work full time as a support worker in a day centre for adults with learning disabilities.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?
Around 20 years ago I wrote a story called the King of Kings, a horror/fantasy written in the style of the King James Bible. That book became the foundation of another, Emun of Mor which ultimately gave rise to Young Warlock.

When did the characters first pop into your head?
I was in the middle of writing another novel, 3 Phaze, when this young warrior walked into my thoughts demanding attention. No matter what I tried, he just refused to go away until I finally caved in and wrote about him.

Without giving away any spoilers, was the story always straight forward for you to write, or did it pop up any surprises along the way?
I used to just sit an write, pouring out words like water. I let the stories tell themselves. When I did try to create my own stuff, the characters always died. I get an idea of what is coming but never the details, they just write themselves onto the page.

Where do you like to write?
20 plus years ago I was never without a pen and paper, laptops were practically unknown and certainly not in my price bracket. I would write in my lunch breaks, scribbling away like crazy. When I got home  I would type it all up on my trusty old Atari ST. Nowadays I write straight into the laptop, not a fancy one mind. I can write anywhere, and I get agitated if I don’t get to write something for a few days.

Do you read a lot?
I read about 15-20 books year. That’ll be anything from a new indie to a classic, a short novella to a monster epic like The Eye of the World. I’m currently reading, A Ranger’s Tale by Mysti Parker while I take a break from the complete works of Arthur Conan Doyle.

Who are some of your favourite authors?
Some of my favourite authors have not written some of my favourite books. I love the book: Ready Player One by Clive Earnest is the only book that I ever read twice in a row. Robert E. Howard is a huge favourite – I have every Conan story he wrote. I love the style of H.G Wells as much as I do J.R.R. Tolkien. Steven Donaldson is another who write those long, rambling fantasies and then I enjoy Ian Banks, Cressida Cowell and a new author called Jeff Gardiner deserves a mention for his book on bullying – Myopia.

And last but not least, have you any words of wisdom for aspiring writers out there?
We live in a time where we are surrounded by budding authors on one side and cruel critics on the other. Write your heart out, do you best. Get people you do not know to read it and give you feedback. Learn from it, then keep on learning. Always strive to do better. When somewhen slates your work, shake the dust from your shoes and move on. Never respond to the criticism in a negative manner. You are better than that.

About Mathew Bridle:

Mathew Bridle (born 1963) heralds from the south of England where he lives with his wife of 17 years and his three house monkeys (children). He began writing novels in the late 1990's with The Rising, an 80's style horror novel. A second novel quickly followed, 3 Phaze, a science fiction story set in the last days of the Earth. His third, Lagoon, inspired by the X-files is a sci-fi horror, brutal and sexual.

Nowadays he spends his time writing fantasy with Young Warlock as the first full instalment of this epic saga. When not writing he likes to relax with his Kindle, most likely reading either a classic fantasy or something from a new indie author. Either that or wrestling the controls for the Xbox from one of children.

MY REVIEW

I recieved a copy of Used for being part of this review tour. Here's my honest opinion on the book.

I really enjoyed it, I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

I remember seeing the blurb for this on another website and thinking, actually that looks quite interesting. I was rather intrigues, so was really excited when I was asked to review it. I read it in one day (even whilst walking up to school this morning to pick my son up!!), it's a quite short book. But it leaves you wanting so much more, well it did with me anyway.

The story focuses on the character of V, and she is actually quite like able. You learn some things about her past, but just enough to keep you guessing. No spoilers here but there is a major twist at the end which I did NOT see coming!!! A lot of good sex and some interesting characters, I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who is a fan of erotica :D

Blog Tour! Jealousy by Jenna Galacki

Welcome to my part in Jenna Galacki's 'Jealousy' blog tour!

TITLE – Jealousy
AUTHOR – Jenna Galicki
RELEASE DATE – July 3, 2013
GENRE – Contemporary Romance

BOOK DESCRIPTION –
When Heather Cooper married Peter, she thought that she had finally found someone who could handle the inseparable bond she shares with her gay best friend, Justin Perrotta. It’s only a matter of time, however, before jealousy rears its ugly head and Peter’s true feelings emerge. He starts drinking and his erratic behavior threatens their marriage.

Burned by an ex-boyfriend, Justin refuses to open his heart to love again. Wild relationships and one night stands leave him lonely and unfulfilled, even though he will not admit it. He finds love when he least expects it, but his fear of commitment threatens to ruin the best thing that has ever happened to him.

In this modern day ‘Will and Grace’ meets ‘Sex and the City’, two best friends, a straight woman and a gay man, struggle to find someone to love as much as they love each other.

Excerpt:
Heather bit her lower lip and wondered what the hell she was doing in the sleazy hotel.
She looked around the room. It actually wasn’t sleazy at all. It was a very expensive hotel. Still, she must be fucking insane for being there.

She reached for the door handle, ready to make a quick exit, when the door swung open and Dominick entered the room. Without saying a word, he put his hands through her long dark hair and his mouth firmly on her soft lips. His kiss penetrated her very soul. Without removing his mouth from hers, he picked her up and placed her gently on the bed. He sat next to her and she reached for another kiss. She pulled at his clothing and quickly discarded her own. Before he was fully undressed, she was on him with her lips and hands, touching, kissing and licking every inch of his body. The pent up animalistic urges which she was forced to suppress in the bedroom with Peter were finally unleashed.

Her flesh was burning hot. She was hungry, famished, and Dominick fed her desire. She didn’t want to waste time with foreplay. She wanted him inside her – now.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR –

I am a newly published author of adult contemporary romance, geared toward male/male romance.

My debut novel, Jealousy, is a modern day 'Will & Grace' meets 'Sex & the City' - only hotter. A reviewer recently gave me a a tremendous compliment by comparing it to 'Jane Austen' meets '50 Shades".

In Jealousy, I am blending genres, in that it has both m/f and m/m romance. I am introducing the reader to m/m romance, in a way that is tender, touching and loving. I want to make m/m romance novels mainstream in the literary industry. I want to take it from the back shelf and put it on the front shelf. I want to walk into a major retail book store and see boy meets boy, right along side boy meets girl.

Book Blast: The Wolf on the Run by Jorja Lovett

The Wolf on the Run by Jorja Lovett
Book Two in the The Wild Irish Wolves series.

Short Blurb:
Alpha Rory is determined to protect his pack, including feisty Naomi. How can he get close when she's intent on facing her demons alone?

Long Blurb:
As a police officer and Alpha of the Olcan Hills' pack, being a protector is in Rory Blake's DNA.
When Naomi Duffy turned up heavily pregnant and alone, Rory's natural instinct was to look after her. However, her fierce need for independence over the years has ensured they've never been anything more than friends.
Naomi has spent too long trying to keep her daughter safe to jeopardise everything for a fling. But, when her past threatens to catch up with her, Rory is the only person she trusts with her life.
Thrown together, the couple finally succumb to their passion and it's all too easy to forget the danger lurking in the hills.
Do Rory and Naomi have a future together, or will secrets from the past tear them apart?

Excerpt:
Naomi came after Rory, pitting her stealthy grace against his sheer power. In his peripheral vision, he could see the wisps of her breath spiralling into the cold air as she forged ahead, determined to catch him. Rory snorted, sending his own white breath curling up into the atmosphere.
He led her over the hills, their claws making short work of carving up the cold, hard terrain. Naomi never lost ground. Even when he made a turn towards the woods on the boundary, she kept pace.
The chase awakened something deep inside him—that animal freedom with no responsibilities except the survival of himself and his pack. The spiky silhouettes of barren trees lined his path, like broad strokes of a black marker pen scratched against the silver sky.
He dodged in and out, never slowing, with Naomi always in pursuit. Occasionally, a pair of woodland eyes blinked at him from the darkness—a rabbit, a fox, observing their bizarre courtship.
Rory had no doubt the exhilaration of their illicit run would end in wild sex between him and Naomi. It was like a very enthusiastic bout of foreplay without actual touching.
They crunched through the leaf-littered forest floor until he tired of being the hunted. He looped back the way they came and stopped in a clearing. In all aspects of life he preferred to be the one doing the chasing, but at this moment in time he wanted nothing more than to be caught.
He shifted back into his naked, horny self. Naomi came to a skidding halt seconds later, scooting a bundle of leaves over his bare feet. “You can run, wolf lady, I'll give you that. Now can we go back to bed?”
She shifted back to stand beautifully naked before him. “Not until you say it.”
Say what?” He was hard as hell and ready for round two.
That I’m as good as you.” She gave him a flirty smile. One which said she was looking forward to the future rather than staring back at the past. The run had obviously done wonders for her too.
That was probably a fluke. I don’t think you could keep up with me on a normal day. You know, one where you haven’t seduced me on top of a car boot and made me carry you home first.” The play fighting wasn’t limited to their animal personas. Not when it proved such a turn on. Human or wolf, the scent of Naomi’s arousal would always draw him to her.
I didn’t hear you complaining at the time. But, if you’re tired, just say and we’ll call it a night.” She shrugged her shoulders, making her boobs jiggle enough to bring his erection to full strength once more.
He stepped forward and brushed her wild hair from her face. “I’ll never be too tired for you, Naomi. I’ll race you back. This time the winner stays on top.”
She grinned, eyes twinkling as bright as the stars. “You’re on.”
This was one race he intended to lose.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review. Here goes!!

I absolutely adored this story! I couldn't put it down, and was a bit gutted when I had to stop reading as we had company!!! I also picked it straight up at 8am this morning the minute i opened my eyes as I was desperate to finish it!!

The characters in the story, Kiera and Cain, were brilliant. Really like able characters, and they have you rooting for them throughout. Shifters are my thing, therefore I was really excited to meet the were-tigers in this book. And they didn't disappoint! Megan described all the Immortals rally well. Sometimes stories with different 'beings' gets you a little confused, but Megan done a great job with her characters.

The pull between Cain and Kiera is amazing, will they end up together? Read the book and you will find out exactly what goes on!

The story is full of twists and turns, surprises and shocks, and it will keep you guessing right to the end!

A fabulous read from Megan, and I'm looking forward to reading more!
